Thank you for being a Nest Aware subscriber. We wanted to let you know that the price of your Nest Aware Plus subscription ... will soon increase from $150 a year to $200 a year (plus applicable taxes).

This new price will go into effect on your first bill that occurs on or after August 15, 2025...

In MBA speak, Google is in the cash cow phase of their business. They are milking their existing businesses for all its worth. They do not see any avenue to upsell their existing customers to new products. It's all downhill to oblivion from here.

There's so many nice usable bits of hardware out there for video doorbells. Ezviz, Amcrest, Aqara, Reolink.

There's Frigate, which is incredible for webcams. Amazing. But I don't think it deals with the bell itself. But I suspect many have a separate chime unit that would at least work ok, of you aren't trying to also bring and bodge Home-Assistant or whatnot into the mix too.
