Edit: I’m unaware of the ‘scene’ position on repacks, my general feeling was that it is ok. It is all about being first. Repacks are not first so are given less attention. But please enlight me.

I haven't tested this yet, but is there a terminal app included in the build? If so, one could just add the app to Steam as a non-Steam game, which will avoid the need to ssh from a different PC.
