The regularly scheduled 10LINEBASIC competition has concluded for this year - in which, participants are encouraged to write the coolest games and utilities in just 10 LINES OF BASIC CODE!
This year we have some fantastic new leaps in imaginative, creative and just downright cool games to play with .. from a re-imagining of the PacMan and Space Invaders gameplay mechanics, to a full Real Time Strategy game, a couple of neat (and even multiplayer) Battleship implementations, and some downright cool arcade-like games that, in only 10 lines of BASIC, put the modern bloated era of computing to shame!
If you like programming, and know a bit about BASIC, and have a bit of a fondness for the retro-computing era (as many of us do here on HN), you’re in for a real treat this year!
The zen-like state of implementing a fully playable game in just 10 lines of code might even inspire you to come up with your own ideas for next years competition - which would be wonderful .. as an observer of this great social activity for a few years now, I can only say that the competition is getting better and better .. so be sure to tune in, type a few in, and be ready to be amazed at just how rich and powerful this ancient language can be, in the right hands and on the right machines ..
