Label Obsession Grips Canada as Shoppers Shun American Products

Americans can shun Canadian products too, they should be careful what they wish for
toomuchtodo•9mo ago
Canada’s boycott is retaliation for unnecessary and irrational tariffs. Canada LNG, oil, potash, critical minerals, etc will instead go into the global market. There is nothing Canada sells they specifically need Americans to buy except perhaps electricity and auto parts/assemblies.

> Last year, Canadian exports of energy products (oil, natural gas, power) to the U.S amounted to nearly $170 billion, or almost 1/3 of total shipments. In contrast, energy accounted for only 6% of all U.S. imports. Put simply, Canadian sources are critical to U.S. energy security.

I don't know a single country in the world that wouldn't do this if another country did to them what the US did to Canada. Even a lot of US citizens seem to agree. May be consider your own standing first?
BLKNSLVR•9mo ago
If country A threatens to annex country B, then I'd say it's entirely rational for a resident of country B to minimise anything that may financially support country A.

Even moreso when country A applies additional tariffs on goods from country B based on nothing / 0.01% of fentanyl smuggling / unfairness of trade agreement negotiated and signed under the authorisation of the person themselves.

Even moreso again when all of the above comes out of the blue after decades of good relations.
