Ask HN: Writings that you'd like to share but haven't

2•govideo•9mo ago
Like some people, I believe many of you have written things (short/long; fact/fiction; school/pleasure) that you have not posted broadly but that many others would would enjoy reading.

I believe this because of my experience at YouTube in the early days, focused on individual creators and because of the many great writing pieces I remember reading of my classmates assignments in school.

Two questions, please: 1a. Where have you tried sharing your pieces? What was your experience? 1b. If you haven't or now stopped, why? 2. Can you paste some of your writing (snippet or full) or link here?

I love to hear/read under-published writing!

I worship star trek and star wars. Ive gotten into fan fiction of both. Then I read every other scifi/fantasy space opera. I ran out of things to read. So then I started writing what I wanted to read.

What's my story on how we are suddenly gone to the stars? Actually completing a book is really hard. The first draft is really hard, editing when are you done?

Starts with a software dev who invents an electric motor that doesnt need atmosphere. Resonant cavity thruster that produces ridiculous thrust to power consumption. Then the adventure to space to find out we are surrounded by aliens and a big space war breaks out. lots of pain and fun along the way.

Then i wrote the trilogy. Ive never shared the books with anyone. Too scared to be judged.

Wow, you sound like a mega voracious reader, to put it lightly. And prolific writer too.

Have you posted even just snippets (or a favorite sentence or graf), or perhaps pseudo/anonymously, anywhere?

It literally hurts my heart when personal, creative expression is stifled or not given a chance to grace our greater world.
