We are looking for a Client Operations Manager to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for owning client relationships, driving onboarding and operational execution, and supporting core HR processes like payroll setup, compliance filings, and employee lifecycle documentation.
You do not need a background in HR — but you must have experience managing high-detail client workstreams, keeping projects on track, navigating ambiguity, and ensuring that operational tasks are completed accurately and on time.
This role is ideal for someone with a strong operator's mindset: detail-oriented, proactive, comfortable working with external clients, and excited about solving problems in a fast-paced environment. You will serve as a critical bridge between our clients, our product, and our internal teams as we scale.
Responsibilities:
Serve as the day-to-day account manager for multiple client accounts, ensuring high-quality support and proactive communication.
Own and execute operational workflows related to HR processes, including:
Payroll registration and setup
Onboarding documentation (offer letters, agreements)
Basic benefits enrollment support
Compliance with state and local employment laws
Coordinate with third-party vendors (e.g., payroll providers, benefits brokers) to move client processes forward.
Manage internal tracking of key deadlines, client deliverables, and filing requirements.
Partner with our Product and Engineering teams to suggest improvements to our internal workflows and client-facing tools.
Proactively flag risks, delays, or client concerns early and drive resolutions with urgency.
Stay current on basic HR/compliance changes (training provided) and ensure client workflows remain compliant.
Operate with a founder’s mentality — flexibly take on new projects as the business grows.
Qualifications:
2–4 years of experience in client operations, account management, project management, or startup operations roles.
Strong process management skills — able to drive complex workflows and ensure deadlines are consistently met.
Excellent client communication skills — professional, proactive, and solutions-oriented in external communications.
Comfortable learning new regulatory frameworks (e.g., payroll, benefits, compliance basics) and applying them operationally.
Strong attention to detail — critical for handling sensitive tasks like compliance filings and payroll setups.
Highly resourceful and able to work independently without extensive hand-holding.
Excited to work in a startup environment: adaptable, fast-moving, and always looking for ways to improve.
(Bonus) Experience working alongside or supporting HR, Legal, Compliance, or Payroll functions.
(Bonus) Experience using platforms like Gusto, Rippling, Deel, ADP, or similar.
