Mega-buildings are now slowing Earth's spin

Click-bait.

I don't consider a dam a building.

EA-3167•9mo ago
Even if you did (I also don't) the degree of slowing is trivial. Two milliseconds per century isn't worth an article.
JohnFen•9mo ago
I think that mankind has built a structure that can measurably slow the earth's rotation is amazing and well worth an article, personally.

It may be trivial, but that doesn't mean it's not an interesting thing to learn about.

thunderassasin•9mo ago
so is it the moment of inertia thing we all learned in physics??
paulkrush•9mo ago
Me, reading just the title and standing up in annoyance, is now slowing Earth's spin. Meanwhile, people showering (because of this so trivial comment) with well water (which ends up in the ocean) are speeding it up the earth by a factor of 1,000 or more.
