Like Sam or hate him, he’s not wrong about AI creating a need to distinguish humans from bots. We’re only just starting to see the damage that AI-powered scams can do. Further, why not try and develop Proof of Humanity (PoH) tech that limits itself to knowing you’re a human but not your personal details like name and address?

The problem is real, but his solution is creepy and more than a little scary. It requires too much trust in a company I don't trust and a person I don't trust. Even the physical embodiment of the scanners seems designed to be as creepy as possible.

The whole conception is flawed. You can't have "proof of humanity" in a digital form. Those are just bits. They'll be faked and manipulated and "verified" when they're not real like all other bits. The insistence on tying the idea to crypto makes fraud almost inevitable.
