It doesn't seem like there's really any room for serious gaming news orgs to survive. Readers don't pay, advertisers pay, but apparently not enough that every site doesn't eventually fold or get sold.

All that's left are social media personality driven type coverage.

I think youtube video essays and reviewers pick up the slack here. I'm glad they exist and retain some of the punchy personality of the mags and shows of the 2000's (sorry didn't get to live the 90s)
