Hello HN,

I made this simple little tool for quickly converting RGB or 6-digit hex values to their closest 3-digit shorthand. It also comes with a little color picker if you just want to quickly grab a color.

Made for fun, and a love of tinkering. Would love any ideas for improvement!

cool! its odly satisfying to drag the colour side to side and watch the color resolution flicker from matching to mismatches in bands as it passes colours representable in the 3digit form

I wish the Open Props color helper[1] output results more like your tool:

- Shows both original vs matched colors

- Shows hex/rgb values

- Easy copy/paste via button

Some ideas you may be able to steal from the color helper:

- The "Quick pick" button is very handy

- Also there are two color matching algorithms. The LAB color matching is supposedly optimized for human perception.

And perhaps support for OKLCH colors? https://oklch.com/
