Trying to use OpenAI’s Codex CLI in 2025 and hitting a complete wall:
sk-proj keys (the only kind I can generate) are rejected
No clear onboarding, no model access, no CLI fallback
Documentation is vague and doesn’t address current key structure
Support has not responded in days
Claude Code, meanwhile, spins up in minutes — no mystery keys, no silent friction.
I’m building a real product and wanted to compare tools in good faith.
If Codex CLI is deprecated or locked, say so.
If not, how are any developers supposed to get in the door?
Has anyone here actually gotten it working recently?
