I am pretty passionate about DEI, but I feel like people mix sort of depth and breadth of passion, I am deeply passionate that all people can operate at work without having to hide a piece of who they are. If it’s categorically appropriate at work(talking about your weekend, having a picture of your family on your desk at work) we should all be able to do that. But being your “whole self” to work isn’t supposed to extend beyond the things necessary to feel comfortable to be apart of the team and do the work. And this is for everyone! Even most activists need a break from their activism.
