One of the things they do not tell you in college entrepreneur classes is the downside. I well remember the 2000 Internet crash. An entrepreneur I looked up to and who had been somewhat of a mentor to me lost everything. I do mean everything; his company, house and marriage.
He ended up living in rental locker and showering at the gym. He'd had a chance in 1999 to sell out and net tens of millions of dollars but his VC's wouldn't let him do it. Very few people have the mental fortitude to bounce back from that and start another company. I'm betting Dan is one of those people.
