I sideloaded a Reddit client onto my iPhone. I never want to do it again

> Or so I thought. The problem, as I found out, is that sideloading can be a monumental pain. I’m happy to say I now have Apollo working on my iPhone again, but the whole process was and is such an ongoing hassle, and I have a new appreciation for Apple’s fight against sideloading.

OP seems to draw the wrong conclusion... Sideloading is such a hassle to a large extent due to Apple intentionally making it so. Stockholm syndrome or submarine?

You could just not used a locked down platform.

Or not use the app and use the website * .

Or protest why you're happyto pay an Apple Tax for your use of your own device.

Or not use Reddit given their hostility to users.

* Unless notifications are that important, and if that's the case I hope you're paid to use Reddit.

There are plenty of solutions. Being a Reddit 'user' and an Apple 'user' seem to have a big overlap. And sadly that seems to be 'users' as people willing to be abused by the companies they entrust with their time and data.
