Ask HN: Is it time for dark mode yet?

6•rcarmo•2d ago
I know that this has been discussed ad nauseam in the past, but even a simple sub 100-byte media query that just set the background to black and text to white would be amazing for those of us doing late night reading - especially in in-app browsers that can’t use plugins or user scripts.

If so, it should be optional. I have difficulty reading most dark mode sites in bright light or daylight.
rcarmo•4h ago
With a media query, it will take on your desktop/device preferences.
jethronethro•1d ago
And like every query/request/suggestion around this topic, this one will be ignored too ...
rcarmo•4h ago
Yup, looks like it.

just searched to see if there was any changes with dark mode. This week marks the 5th year anniversary of this thread: https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=23199062
