Super pumped to share that I just relaunched version 2.0 of my side project — a tool that detects WordPress plugins on websites.
The big win? It now recognizes over 20,000 plugins.
For context:
When I first started working on this, I was shocked that tools like BuiltWith and Wappalyzer only detect a few hundred WP plugins at best. Which is wild, considering WordPress powers a huge chunk of the web. I kept thinking, “Surely someone’s made a better detector just for WP…”
But no one had — so I did.
What started as a Chrome extension with about 200 plugins has grown into a fully automated detection system that scales across tens of thousands. And now I’m building a searchable database on top of that. Soon, each plugin will have its own page with stats, usage trends, and real-world insights.
Right now I’m running it solo (with some dev help here and there). It’s still early. But seeing the daily users grow again after the relaunch has given me a ton of new energy.
No big launch, just posting in a few communities, making videos, and watching it slowly spread again.
