I don't see how they can buy the good parts of a company, like it's customer base but not the liabilities.

If the company has to go bankrupt because of that, so be it, but there is no way that you can magically make liabilities disappeared just because you are a buyer and not the original owner.

If unhappy, they can sue to try to reverse the transaction with the owner they bought the company from but that's all. I hope customers will raise complaints. Especially for a vpn that is something that you should be able to trust to be able to use.
