There’s several very promising next gen battery technologies that’s in pre production or trial production in US and Europe now.

I wonder how this will pan out vs China. Will it turn out that China invested too much in what will end up being outdated battery chemistries, or will they keep pace, match the innovations and quickly retool for these new chemistries.

I think there’s a chance for the west to catch up with China, if governments get really serious about massive investments in building out production capacity for these next gen chemistries when they’re ready. And it’s probably the last chance.

I don’t really expect the west to surpass China, to be clear.
