Ask HN: How do you like the Framework matte screen?

5•christophilus•8mo ago
It's about time for me to upgrade my laptop, and I'm leaning towards Framework, but I hate matte screens. I love my Dell XPS 4k glossy Oled: crisp, clear, accurate colors, and most importantly, no huge blob of diffused light across half of the screen when I'm outside.

For those of you who switched to Framework from a glossy screen, how is your experience with it?

I have a framework 16 that I picked up recently. Honestly, the screen is OK but it's not a very high-end display. One of the biggest advantages to this laptop is its hack-ability. With a little work I think would be feasible to swap that display for something you prefer more. The changeable bezels are nice though :)

I had a glossy screen for a few years, but recently switched to the matte. I’m quite liking it, it certainly lets me work in more environments without blinding glare. It’s nice and sharp, no major complaints. (One minor nitpick though: unlike the glossy, you can’t turn the brightness down until the backlight is off).
