This is an old article. They seen more of these built. Vance had a comment about if Taiwan goes away the global economy collapses. Otherwise not much new development.
In reality the new fabs in the usa and eu are coming online and making taiwan less important. I'm fairly confident that China will take Taiwan sooner rather than later.
Arizona's fabs were specifically designed to move R&D out of taiwan. When these come online nothing in taiwan really matters anymore.

all the research and development that allows TSMC to keep shrinking sizes and optimize happens in Taiwan and if they ignore Taiwan they'll simply be in the same position they just were.
