It's true; computer science is merely the gateway to subfields which are their own specialties; each could be its own dedicated hobby.

(And how can one be interested in only one of them, when they are all connected, or at the surface accessible with just a tutorial.)

At one prospective student event, it was incredulous to ask, "Wait, are we competing for majors with those who could become medical doctors?"

Yes! There was no question about it. The more computer science graduates, the better.
