The prediction - software jobs will be the first to go has a very similar feel to the Hillary will win prediction.

The pool of people who want to believe this has grown so much larger than the pool Qualified to even talk about this subject, that the prediction has become self reinforcing and worthless.

People are acting as if all problems are automation/optimization problems.

Look at HN. If you ask 10 different people, what the purpose of this site is you will get 10 different answers. There are lots of problems like that in the real world which are is not well defined and no one can agree about what it is they are trying to do.

If magic god AI tells Microsoft to use Apple's stack and Oracle to use Google Cloud and Amazon to shift to HarmonyOS who believes thats going to happen? When people say things are going to accelerate just haven't worked in large orgs long enough.
