The government built an underground base for USD 21T during the Iraq War for the elites in case something happened.

nullpoint420•8mo ago
I wish this was real - I would've loved to see the architecture and city planning that went into making these cities.

But for real, assuming this is real: how do you spend 21T on economic development without getting caught? $21 trillion was 19% of the _global_ GDP and 76% of the USA's GDP in 2023. Who was paid $21 trillion to build these cities? Why has it not leaked before?

To put it in perspective, I'm assuming Google has thousands of employees/partners which work on Android and Pixel Phones. Due to this scale, the new Pixel Phones have almost always leaked before they come out every year.

But I'm expected to believe that a decade long government project with thousands (if not tens of thousands) of workers had no leaks? No photo and/or video evidence? No way.

thomassmith65•8mo ago
As you point out, the alleged cost is roughly equivalent to America's GDP. Nothing else need be said; if someone still believes that is plausible, they're beyond reason.

There is some evidence for large amounts of money disappearing into "black programs" in the defense department. Famously the pentagon has been unable to pass an audit for many years. Predictably, there has been lots of speculation about where the money goes. It's one of the favorite topics among conspiracy theorists.

This claim about $21 trillion is from Catherine Austin Fitts¹. She is a pretty interesting character who seems smart and informed but many of her claims seem like fantastical (dystopian) conspiracy theories. If there is any truth to any of what she says then then implications are pretty huge.

The quote below demonstrates the warped thinking and perspectives!

Why not put the AI in a bunker with an off switch?

The idea that you would choose to release a technology that could be dangerous, whilst assuming you can hide in a bunker and be ok is astoundingly cruel and naive.

From the Article: “Once we all get into the bunker—” he began, according to a researcher who was present.

“I’m sorry,” the researcher interrupted, “the bunker?”

“We’re definitely going to build a bunker before we release AGI,” Sutskever replied. Such a powerful technology would surely become an object of intense desire for governments globally. The core scientists working on the technology would need to be protected. “Of course,” he added, “it’s going to be optional whether you want to get into the bunker.”

Society is being led down a primrose path by pied pipers who eagerly desire or believe external locus-of-control/learned helplessness that a technological or religious apocalyptic disintegration of civilization is "unavoidable", and don't care about social commonwealth, theory of mind, or the greater good.
