Eurovision 2025 Jury vs. Public Vote Discrepancies

Juries are changed every year, they are also more likely to follow perceived public sentiment since they aren't secret. Jury votes are exponential so a single jury members vote can make a big difference.

Number of public votes pr. year would also be interesting, though all of this can be troublesome since the rules have changed often, many rules are local to specific countries and pricing pr. vote varies greatly between countries (from free to nearly $2) along with how many times a person can vote.

>Jury votes are exponential

I don't understand what that means, in this context.

phillipseamore•8mo ago
The jurors simply rank a list of their preferences for each country from 1 to 25 (except their own). That is then converted to the top 10 with 12, 10, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4 3, 2 and 1 points. The countries in the top seats of the juror rankings get exponentially more points than lower ones. Here's the curve: https://eurovision.tv/sites/default/files/styles/banner/publ...

So they call that exponential. But it isn't a true exponential function, in the form a mathematician or physicist would recognise it though, is it?
