Low tech solutions like air-ground heat exchangers go a long way, sadly it seems that this isn't part of our tech solutionism agenda

calling the exploitation of natural phenomina and physics "low tech" is part of the problem, as this is all that "high tech" is doing, except with a touch screen and micromanaging options menues, and subscribed "pro" model. personaly I dont have time to mess with basic houshold appliences and equipment, plug and forget thank you, maybe a tiny, tiny, tiny, status light, on/off switch, and the knob for more/less of whatever it is......and most definetly no beep's, no prompts, notifications, or buzzers, ever. Kind of like door knobs, that operate at an ultra low level of awareness, but if you take one apart, it's ,WOW look at these intricate little gears and leavers moving in a smooth spring loaded mechanical motion, invisibly and reliably for generational time spans.
