Most blackout coverage focuses on infrastructure or failure. This reflection looks at what disappears when the grid cuts out and how silence reshapes the way a city feels.

Just a few days ago, a ripple failure left parts of Portugal and Spain in the dark. No disaster, no major damage. But for millions, it was an unexpected moment of stillness.
