Please, stop asking us to open source our products

Those quotes seem surreal to me.

Do people really get interested customers saying those things often?

It might be the products I've worked on, or the industry(s) but I've never seen a request like the ones quoted.

AStonesThrow•6h ago
I am fairly sure that all the "quotes" are imaginary and exaggerated to the point of hyperbole. For example, I expect that they know their audience knows there is actually no such thing as "100% Certified Organic Open Source Software", and that no good-faith inquiry would request such a thing.
p_ing•6h ago
I don't understand why a post like this is necessary -- it is hostile in tone even if the reader has no intention of asking for the author to open source their products.

It certainly won't be read by those asking to open source the apps unless the author sends them the link, for at which point they may as well have kept the exchange private in email.

I had a fun pet project, once. Made it available for free to use. Regular releases, and others in the small community made other similar tools.

The amount of shit I got because it wasn't open source was astounding. Akin to bullying.

It was MY pet project! Literally every week, every release, I'd get negative or downright nasty comments.

I wasn't forcing anyone to use it.. people are just so entitled.

Just my experience..
