don't fall for it. these are stories concocted to influence your evaluation of their product, giving it a sheen of expected futuristic utopia, fueling your willingness to part with your dollars.

when you zoom out far enough, you notice their business is branding that is the facade to a commodity (generative AI). their company value lies in the value of the brand because that drowns out a large majority of competitors (of the commodity) by drawing their potential customers' dollars, which is oxygen to the dragon.

openai's business is in their ability to craft a brand story that convinces the world that they are the purveyors of a safe passage into the post-human-intelligence (Alien Intelligence), making us willing and eager to contribute to building the bridge.
