Oh my god. Just press for laws to be adjusted so we can have longer trucks already. It’s way more efficient, especially than using two trucks when one truck would do the job. You’ve got all this technology adding point of failures and additional cost to operate. You can use an advanced computer system to drive a second trailer, or just hitch them together and no extra tech needed

I'm sure that this article is effectively a press release, and shouldn't be taken as a technical description of what'll be happening, but it sure sounds like a great way for the lead truck to merge into an empty space in a lane, while the following truck merges into a minivan or another truck or a piece of construction equipment.

With more advanced self-driving maybe each driver will guide a "herd" of trucks across the USA.
