Show HN: Connecting People Through AI-Powered Video Sentiment Matching

Hi HN,

I’d like to share www.kuky.com, a peer support network that connects people through short, self-recorded videos and matches them using sentiment analysis powered by large language models (LLMs).

We’re building Kuky to help users find others who genuinely understand their emotional journey—not through swiping or likes, but through shared human stories. In this short Loom demo (link above), I walk through how:

Users create a profile by uploading 3 videos: an intro, their mental health journey, and their likes/dislikes

LLMs analyze each video for emotional tone, key themes, and psychological markers

Based on this, Kuky intelligently connects users with similar experiences and emotional alignment

We're passionate about creating a safe, empathetic space for authentic conversation—especially for people dealing with mental health challenges.

For more background, here’s a feature on Kuky in Women Love Tech: https://womenlovetech.com/kuky-the-mental-health-app-were-sw...

Would love your thoughts on the concept, the matching algorithm, and how you’d imagine using something like this.

Thanks, Armin

The concept seems great. I would expand it beyond just mental health. Sounds like a fab idea for a new-level dating app TBH
armini•8mo ago
Thanks for the feedback, we thought about dating but it’s a saturated market & not really our passion. We care more about mental health if people meet & date because of Kuky, we’re okay with that as a byproduct
cranberryturkey•8mo ago
How do you analyze the videos with AI? Do you split the video into images and submit to AI or what? I’m curious because I’m building something similar for a client for a business use case.
armini•8mo ago
We’re doing video to text transcribe on the phone then sending to LLM to turn to structured data happy to chat armin@kuky.com if you need help
cranberryturkey•8mo ago
so you're really only analyzing audio then, not video?
zecg•8mo ago
"Authentic conversations", with single-serving people provided as matches by an opaque algorithm based on short video vibes, this might as well have been mental health services in Mike Judge's Idiocracy.
armini•8mo ago
I appreciate your candid feedback. Kuky is actually built on evidence-based peer support principles. Key research supporting our approach: • Shalaby & Agyapong (2020), JMIR Mental Health – Peer support improves wellbeing and reduces stigma. https://mental.jmir.org/2020/6/e15572 • Cooper et al.
