How "Do Your Own Research" Became a Slogan for Epistemic Collapse

Sometimes you can't trust institutions like the Health and Human Services. They've failed our country repeatedly just like the FDA (who I have the pleasure of working with most days of the week).

The suggestion to "do your own research" opens people to the idea that Science is Science and should be continued to be questioned and discovered outside the bounds of institutions that at times have clear conflicts of interest.

I think the suggestion "do your own research" would ideally "open people to the idea that Science is Science and should be continued to be questioned and discovered outside the bounds of institutions that at times have clear conflicts of interest."

But mostly I think it gets people to look for guru's and other sources they can not question.
