Show HN: Which hand do you type faster with? - leftright.space

https://www.leftright.space/
5•ahmedkhaleel•1d ago
I type really fast, 185+ wpm, but I never learned to optimize for typing properly. I use 3 fingers on my right hand and all 5 on my left, and now I can't unlearn it.

This quick test shows if your right or left hand types faster, and compares it to everyone else's results! Fun little bit of information.

I misunderstood the goal for my first time I thought that I need to type this with left hand only then by right hand only. BTW I have a proper touchtyping so my result is:

Your hand speed balance is typical. Your right hand is 98% as fast as your left (community average: 90%)

ahmedkhaleel•1d ago
wow yea that makes sense, 98% is amazingly balanced
eimrine•1d ago
That's not only my result, that's Augusto Dvorak's one as well, kudos you have this option. BTW if you will add Dvorak for Programmers I try once more, this is a rare layout for kbd trainers. Just add some Perl code with a lot of numbers, or just a random symbols to really test Dvorak for Programmer.

It would be more interesting if we could count whether the left or right hand pressed the space bar, but there is only one space bar, so this is not possible. I think alternating between both hands to press the space bar is the most balanced way.
