Great discussion. From my understanding, Joel Spolsky pushed back against devs wanting to leave the industry due to cost-center culture and outsourcing.

In today's context, AI is triggering similar feelings of displacement, burnout, loss of meaning, self-doubt and so on.

For others, AI opened many doors.

In my opinion, we are reliving the same fears in a new form. I think this flashback can prove that it's just a question of adapting. It isn’t just history repeating, it’s setting the stage for reinvention. Thanks for sharing.
