I'm curious to see if she later sells them for a profit. From what I understand, the portfolios of extremely popular artists are increasingly being purchased as a long-term investment. The royalties for music thats already popular cross-generation add up, and people will probably be listening to her music in 50 years the same way people still listen to Queen or The Beatles.

Not knocking her for it to be clear, I'd rather artists have control of their own music and that includes their right to sell it.

No doubt that's her motive, and it'll probably happen sooner than you imagine. I do not think her music will stand the test of time like the Beatles, however.
