Ask HN: How to stop iOS from including contact names in Autocorrect dictionary?

3•chatmasta•8mo ago
I come to you out of desperation. Does anyone know if it’s possible to opt out of this incredibly annoying, potentially extremely awkward so-called feature? I don’t want my messages to mention some random person I met ten years ago just because their name is vaguely similar to some slang or technical jargon that isn’t in Apple’s weirdly limited dictionary.

I’ve tried all sorts of settings and cannot get rid of this. And I even reset my dictionary but I think this just made it worse because now it’s a blank slate without any of my custom words but with all of my contact names :(

Turning off Auto-Correction stops the system from referencing names in Contacts, though the system will still suggest—without auto-correcting—common names that may not be listed in Contacts.

That’s all or nothing though right? :/
