tl;dr: the New Jersey Turnpike Authority granted Applegreen New Jersey Welcome Centres LLC a monopoly on EV charging along the turnpike, in exchange for 5-10% of their revenue, so the existing charging stations on it (this post is about the Tesla Superchargers specifically) are all being torn down in favor of theirs.

Seems counterproductive to all the money and effort being spent to promote EV adoption
