Talk around Tesla for years was about having a lower cost model, but it never seemed to happen.

Meanwhile others have filled that gap.

Tesla is a luxury item for the aspirationally wealthy (those lacking yachts). BYD has the rest of us covered when we can finally get our hands on them. Warren Buffet saw the leader early on.

A gullwing door two seat robotaxi is preposterous. That's your supposed $25,000 car. It probably can't be manufactured for under $40,000. And who knows what ridiculous project the steampunk lowrider bus was intended for. A supposed $37 billion in cash and they're shuckin' and jivin' about a supposedly pivotal future source of revenue. What's up with that?

Who?

In open markets Chinese vehicles are about 20% cheaper, but you get what you pay for (different segment).

oldpersonintx2•1d ago
there most definitely will be a $25k Tesla...its called the CyberTruck...they keep piling up on lots unpurchased, and Tesla keeps making more!

you think I'm joking?

Zigurd•1d ago
But can it out-compete all those surplus Brightdrop vans?
kklisura•1d ago
> “Reuters is lying,” Musk had posted on X, minutes after the story published on April 5, 2024, halting a 6% decline in Tesla’s stock.

> The executives knew that Musk had, in fact, canceled the low-cost vehicle...

> Musk’s post was so confusing to some senior managers that they asked him whether he’d changed his mind. Musk rejected their concerns and said the project was still dead...

How about we find out real truth via discovery on a class action lawsuit?
