Ask HN: How to get ChatGPT perform as well as Claude?

1•recvonline•1d ago
I am using Claude AI for most of my daily tasks. I bounce ideas off, let it write an implementation I had thought of and quickly want to see how it would look like implemented etc.

Mostly, 4-5 sentence prompts plus attaching the whole codebase is enough.

Trying to use ChatGPT is a nightmare (I use o3 and the mini-high models). The same prompt doesnt perform at all. ChatGPT sometimes doesn’t even read the attachment by default, it doesnt re-render whole files and just does git diff like outputs.

I have to prompt it to write whole files and show them to me. And even then, the quality is not good at all.

Claude is doing a really good job without long prompts, on the first try.

I have a ChatGPT subscription from work and want to use it, but I fail to produce any quality output.

Any help?

In my experience it is always better to ask more detailed questions based on smaller context.
