This was a very well thought out, exceptionally polite and patient response to what can only be described as utterly ridiculous, not to mentioned continued [0] behavior. Suspending the artists account on top is patently insane, but as unsurprising as the sun rising in the morning. I know that HN as a community has always had a very lenient, laissez-faire view on intellectual property rights and in cases such as scientific journals and archival, I tend to agree, but I'd hope that we can all agree that situations such as this clearly show why artists require and deserve protection for what they create.

Part of that is why in regards to diffusion and transformer models, for the former I prefer Firefly and other examples with proper licensing and for the later, I currently only use it for code that I'm willing to license under EUPL/GPL/BSD/MIT, as in coding there has been more of an understanding that the collective output could and would be used and remixed rather freely.

Research articles have the list of authors. If someones deletes the names and journal before sharing it, everyone would complain.

Fair, I should have been more clear in what I meant, proper attribution is a must in research, was mainly referring to Sci-Hub, etc. Strictly speaking also a violation of intellectual property, but justifiable in my opinion.
