Fantastic article that perfectly captures my experience with Gen AI and my impressions of its likely future.
Legend2440•8mo ago
You’re so done thinking about it that you wrote a 10-page blogpost about how it’s going to ruin everything you care about.

Looks more like you can’t think about anything else.

To be fair, when people break up and never speak to one another again, they don't tend to do it quietly.

And you are welcome to never use AI at all. And maybe you’ll find a position as a craftsman in a small artisinal workshop (software or otherwise) where you can charge 5x the price for less work. Just because people love handmade stuff.

But just like now with furniture, I don’t think for a minute that most of it won’t be made in IKEA’s massive factories, or that most people won’t be buying this cheaper IKEA furniture as opposed to your artisanal hardwood table.

lsy•8mo ago
If you’re really confident that AI is the future, what’s the use of belittling people who aren’t there yet? This kind of response feels more defensive than anything else.
Aeolun•8mo ago
I’m not belittling anyone. Just saying that the people that will not use are always going to be the minority.

That’s less of an issue when your job isn’t based on it.
