They're definitely not all on the same page as the commonsense take quoted in the article. Most of them have a problem with the UK part, not breaking encryption in general.

"The committee heard that the UK has issued more than 20,000 demands for data from US technology companies under the Cloud Act, largely for live interception, compared to only 63 US demands to British providers, mostly for stored data."

That doesn't seem like a useful statistics, since major services tend to be US based.
