The Guardian Launches Secure Messaging

Here is the white paper it is based on for anyone who wants to go deep on the technical details https://www.coverdrop.org/coverdrop_guardian_implementation_...

But I think the idea of using a news app that millions of people have installed as cover for a whistleblower service is actually very clever.

liamness•8mo ago
The particularly clever part is making the implementation open source, which should significantly reduce the complexity for other news organisations wanting to include the same functionality in their own apps, which would further extend the cover of plausible deniability for a whistleblower.

Would this be the same Guardian that sold out Sarah Tisdall? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sarah_Tisdall
mdhb•8mo ago
I’m not sure why you think a story that is almost half a century old is particularly relevant here.

Annual Subscription $130 USD

Premium Annual Subscription $95 USD.

Interesting.

Per the Apple App Store.

itsibitzi•8mo ago
Project lead here, the Secure Messaging part of the app is accessible without a subscription through the main menu.
k310•8mo ago
THANKS! The app store always makes it difficult or impossible to discern what features are available via IAP/subscription rather than the free version.

Your feedback is much appreciated.
