I'm not saying it's false, but rather that the style and jargon are suspect.
My take is that people have been making complaints like this about third-world educational systems, especially India and Brazil, for a long time.
More earnestly.. the essay (fortuitously) elaborates a recent take of mine.. the formal education Great Filter. What if the anti-intellectualism that concerned de Tocqueville, was not a bug, but a feature that confers strategic advantage* over Orientals/"Catholics"? (Which the Brits-- & recidivist western europeans--, if we have to compare with equivalent frutti, do not enjoy)
To meet China (far lower proportion of college vs HS & lower, not to forget Mao's promotion of a healthy aversion to intellectual pursuits) Cantabrigia delenda est!
