But we didn't suffer. We didn't write 100MB of Assembly during our lifetimes. Sure there were a few classes in CS that had a tiny bit of assembly language learning. But when I got into industry it's not like I was writing assembly for 20 years.
This is industry. It moves forward into new things. There is no reason why we need everyone to re-learn things. Sure, there will be cross-over, but "suffer like we did"?
They will - a lot worse.
They will suffer the ticket -> release cycle sped up about 25 times faster than we did.

We’re not moving forward, we’re moving towards lock-in and dependence. I can foresee a future where runnable code will require a subscription. Secure boot and hardware code signing is already in active use. Self expression will be lost as that’s what has made programming rewarding for generations, it is an art but not for much longer.
