This A.I. Company Wants to Take Your Job

> Mr. Besiroglu said he believed that A.I. would eventually create “radical abundance” and wealth that could be redistributed to laid-off workers, in the form of a universal basic income that would allow them to maintain a high living standard.

He should follow up with any evidence? This is not how American capitalism works. No one has put forth any plausible mechanism to get to this. "Freeloaders" is what UBI recipients would be called today. And in no way would any of these founders support a UBI that allows the living standard they're trying to achieve or even have achieved so far.

AI can have my job. I'm retired.

It already plays piano. It already "takes" photographs (as in stealing them).

AI didn't show up to clear my 100 foot defensible space for wildfire mitigation.

I tell my friends who are busting their butts daily, living miserable lives, raging against machines both old and new, in order to retire, that I have already achieved their goal, albeit a bit more modestly, and sad to say, using technology now considered primitive!.

But, despite a few frantic moments (like the command that translated to "rm -rf /") it was interesting and challenging, and I can credit myself with having learned whatever the job, and the next job, required. If we are, indeed, turning a page, I'll write my memoirs of a gone era. With white ink on white paper, so the AI beast can't devour. I rarely share any of my great photos online, so I can maintain possession of them from AI and the "photo agencies" that steal your work and goad you to hire a room full of lawyers to get them back. AI companies hide all that.

Welcome to my museum!

To quote "The Prisoner"

                Number Six: Where am I?
Number Two (not identified as yet): In the village.
                Six: What do you want?
                Two: Information.
Six: Whose side are you on?
Two: That would be telling. We want information...information... information!!!
                Six: You won't get it!
Two: By hook or by crook, we will.
                Six: Who are you?
                Two: The new Number Two.
                Six: Who is Number One?
                Two: You are Number Six.
Six (running on the Village's beach): I am not a number; I am a free man!!!
                Two: [Laughter]

P.S. vmunix was in use, so it wasn't deleted. The other files were easily restored. Not a hiccup.
