Tell HN: AI Is Boring Now

4•openaisucks•23h ago
OpenAI is not exciting or valuable.

I'll wait for it to go open source.

It will eventually be free, nobody will be paying for text AI that much longer

GenAI has been boring for a while, at least when I use it. It gets you something kind of ok/decent very quickly and that's valuable if you don't really care about quality...and I guess we're at that point as a society where we don't care about quality. The economics don't support quality in the places where it's really gotten a foothold (e.g. blogspam, advertising copy, suggested code autocomplete) and maybe it will get better and better but overrunning quality and thoughtful text/art with this stuff just doesn't excite me at all.
