Coinbase, famously a "no politics" company in 2020, sponsors a military parade

One has to appreciate organizers how well they can capture zeitgeist. Even for military parade where there is no need for ads they are reflecting on current state of 'content consuming'. Reminding us that every spectacle and information is there to provide real estate for commercials.
flooow•7mo ago
I thought it was very funny that a military parade has sponsors. But there is no hypocrisy here, from Coinbase's point of view. They would argue that "A military parade isn't political, it's just patriotic!"

Point is, companies (and individuals) that claim to have 'no politics' also don't understand what politics is.

tomlockwood•7mo ago
Absolutely agree, it's incredible. Being political is when someone says something I don't like, of course!
xboxnolifes•7mo ago
You wouldn't even have to argue it's patriotic. One could make the case that sponsoring this parade was the best use of marketing funds.
InTheBarn•7mo ago
And so, my fellow Americans: ask what your country can do for you — ask how you can monetize your country.
antibull•7mo ago
The military parade isn't political. It's been planned since Biden was president. It's the 250th anniversary. Period.
pacomerh•7mo ago
Oh silly, a military parade is political. A display of military strength, military parades demonstrate national power, and supports a particular leader or political agenda.
tomlockwood•7mo ago
Planned by the president you say?
