Discord Considered Harmful

My experience with Discord is that teams I've been on that use Discord often win (at League of Legends, hackathons, etc.) but that I dread other uses of it. If it's the support channel for an open source project I'd say 1/3 of the time I get to talk to knowledgeable people, 1/3 of the time I get to talk to unknowledgeable people, 1/3 of the time it is crickets.

When was Discord not considered harmful?
yellownator•7mo ago
Seems to be locked down... last I checked mods have bans running on AHK or it looks like it since they're incredibly thin skinned people. I don't know what the point is, considering it looks like Discord only exists for them to do that?

It's gotten worse lately in my opinion. Ever since the new update it's been more restrictive, and functions more like a honeypot for banning consumer electronics types than anything. :\

I've experienced all sorts of social engineering on Discord, usually it's pretexting followed by a macro-ish ban event that takes a few "ticks" to fully register, and then the ban itself always shares similar timing. It's impossible to idle because of how they incite with absurdly stupid rules in otherwise "good" servers...
