At a glance it seems like the post is really "use AI if you don't want to lose your job to AI", which made me want to stop reading. Can anyone confirm if they felt the same?

Sort of, but not quite. There's some actionable takeaways here IF you're not betting on an intelligence explosion / software singularity. If that happens, everything in this blog post goes out the window. Notwithstanding that in the next, say, 20-30 years, there's some practical advice in here.
