Secret Crush Matcher – Anonymous way to test if your crush likes you back

Hey HN! I built this after watching too many friends struggle with the "should I tell them?" dilemma.

The concept is simple: you enter your name, get an anonymous link to send to your crush. They see a message saying someone likes them and need to guess who. If they guess your name correctly, you both get notified of the match. If they guess wrong, they never know it was you.

Tech stack: Flask + SQLite, with Google OAuth for notifications. The tricky part was designing the UX to feel safe and non-creepy while maintaining complete anonymity until there's mutual interest.

Some interesting challenges I solved: - Preventing spam/abuse while keeping it anonymous - Designing the guess mechanism to avoid awkwardness - Making sure failed guesses truly stay private

It's completely free and I'm not collecting any personal data beyond what's needed for the matching. Would love feedback from the community on the concept and execution!

This seems like a poor idea to me. If a person is suffering such crippling anxiety that they can't even talk to their "crush" clearly enough to understand if the attraction is mutual, they really should work on fixing that rather than avoiding the root problem. If you avoid the root problem, it will come back to bite you later, or in other circumstances, anyway.
